A Royal Garden Party
Friday 19 July, 2024Tuesday 2nd July was a marvellous day for Sam who we support in Dunfermline, who had a very special invitation to His Majesty the King’s Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh – meeting King Charles III himself!
Sam’s spectacular invitation to the event came after he was named in the 2024 New Years Honours as a recipient of the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his service in the Dunfermline community. Back in May, Sam was proudly presented with the highly regarded medal in a special ceremony.
Marking the start of Royal Week, the prestigious garden party attended by Sam saw more than 8000 guests who have made significant contributions to the country attend. Guests enjoyed traditional tea and cake with Gillian, Sam’s mum explaining, “Sam was excited about the food! He just wanted to go for a picnic in the palace. We had tea and cake, and Sam ate every strawberry on the table!”
During the event, members of the Royal Family stood for the National Anthem, and circulated down the lanes of people on the lawn to greet those in attendance. Sam was met by King Charles III, who was delighted to shake Sam’s hand, pose for a picture and hear all about his incredible achievements which lead to his British Empire Medal. Reflecting on the day Gillian shared, “Sam had a really nice time, he was absolutely brilliant. He was introduced to King Charles III who said he was proud to meet him.”
A huge congratulations to Sam on his incredible achievement!
