Supporting people to achieve their potential

About Us

Real Life Options was first established in 1992 to support and empower people with learning disabilities and autism to have more choice and greater control over their lives. Over the last three decades, we have grown to become a national provider of social support and care while staying true to our core ethos.

As a registered charity we support over 1,500 people across the UK to help develop their independence and achieve their potential. We recognise that to be excellent in our field, we need to truly understand and champion the changing needs and aspirations of the people we support. Through partnerships with families, thought-leader organisations and professional services, we believe in constantly evolving and providing a person-centred approach at every step in an individual’s support journey.

1st Homecare joined the Real Life Options Group in 2014 to provide personalised care at home support throughout Scotland.

Group Structure

The Real Life Options Group is comprised of Real Life Options, a registered charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism in England and Scotland and 1st Homecare, a company supporting greater independence by providing care at home services for older people.

Our Leadership Team is responsible for leading the charity’s day to day operations as well as its strategic direction. They are accountable to the Board of Trustees for ensuring that the organisation meets its legal responsibilities and creates a sustainable business for the benefit of the people supported by the Real Life Options Group.

We live and breathe these values, from the way we support people to have greater control and choice in their life to developing our business strategy, how we connect with local communities and in the way we recruit and develop our staff and volunteers.

We are committed to cultivating an environment where the people we support are respected as equals, their rights as citizens are championed and they feel safe, secure and supported in their homes and communities.

We also provide a workplace where integrity and ownership is key, potential is developed and where innovation to drive change in social support and care is fully embraced.
