Getting involved this Mental Health Awareness Week
Friday 22 May, 2020Every day this week we have been celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week which takes place from 18-24 May 2020 and this year focuses on the topic of kindness.
Ran by the Mental Health Foundation, the campaign reaches millions of people every year and helps to drive change towards a mentally healthy society for all, supporting communities, families and individuals to live mentally healthier lives.
At the Real Life Options Group we have been sharing a wide range of comprehensive resources relating to a wide range of themes, including mental health, financial wellbeing and physical fitness. We have also been embracing a number of activities including sharing fun quizzes to try out with your teams or families and launching organisation-wide competitions to encourage everyone to try out mindfulness colouring and get active by sharing their steps they have ran or walked this week.
Kindness is the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week and one thing that we have seen all over the world is that kindness is prevailing in uncertain times. Research shows that kindness and our mental health are deeply connected. Kindness is an antidote to isolation and creates a sense of belonging.
So fittingly, we have been encouraging everyone across the Real Life Options Group to share and act of kindness that they, or the people they support, have carried out this week to help inspire each other.
