It’s Good Care Month!

July 1st – 31st marks Good Care Month, a month which aims to acknowledge hard working social care workers, the services they provide, and the impact they have on people and communities. Throughout the month, we’ve spoke with staff, people we support, and family members of people we support about what good care means to them.

This week we spoke with Tony who we support in Fraserburgh about what good care means to him.

Supported by Real Life Options since 2013 Tony shared, Real Life Options “have always been here if I need help, whether its shopping, money or just to talk. My favourite thing is having someone around when I need them.”

Through the support of his staff team, Tony enjoys a host of varied experiences and is supported to do the things he loves, saying “I’ve been to comic con in Edinburgh, football matches in Aberdeen and on holiday to Spain.” Tony, together with his Real Life Options staff team travelled to Spain where he ticked off a long list of unforgettable experiences, including sightseeing famous landmarks, and a trip to Ferrari Land. As a thrill seeker, Tony enjoyed a coaster-ific ride on the ‘Red Force’ – the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Europe! Whilst in Spain Tony, who is an avid football fan also enjoyed a trip to Spotify Camp Nou football stadium – the home of FC Barcelona!  None of this would be possible without the support from Real Life Options staff who ensure Tony has the choice to participate in the things he loves.

When asked what good care means to him, Tony explained “Good care is mostly about staff being there if you need help with finances and shopping. It needs to be someone I trust, you have to put a lot of trust in staff.”
