Level 5 Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management

Huge congratulations to Kay McLaughlin, our Registered Locality Manager in South Tyneside for recently completing her Level 5 Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management.
Funded by Real Life Options and delivered by training provider Learning for Excellence, the level 5 apprenticeship is a work based learning programme designed to enhance the skills and knowledge necessary for effective management and leadership in adult care settings.
As part of the apprenticeship Kay had to complete written work, as well as an end point assessment which included an observation and professional discussion with an assessor. With the apprenticeship being work based, Kay was required to complete the course alongside working full time saying, “It was hard work alongside my normal day to day role but my favourite thing was the knowledge I gained. The knowledge I did have was what I’ve learnt within the job and within our company so I’ve gained a lot of knowledge around why the ways in which we work within Health and Social Care is in place.”
At Real Life Options we continuously invest in learning and development, and we understand the significance or personal and professional advancement. We work closely with apprenticeship providers to offer various pathways to training and development for our staff teams. Speaking about what’s next and how the new qualification will positively impact her role, Kay says the apprenticeship “will help me in my role massively, and I wanted to complete this qualification as part of that.”
