My Conference 2024

A huge thank you to people we support, and staff who attended the ‘My Conference’s’ in Newcastle and Dunfermline this year!

Both the Newcastle and Dunfermline conferences have been humbling and truly inspiring. The people we support continue to amaze us with their resilience, determination, and unique journeys—and we couldn’t be prouder of them!

The conferences offered people we support the opportunity to come together to share their personal stories of support. They took to stage and shared their experiences with employment, from both voluntary and paid work, and others spoke about embracing new hobbies like sport, gardening, or caring for animals after deciding to step back from work. It was incredible to listen to people’s stories and hear some of the fantastic things people we support have achieved. The annual Real Heroes Awards were also presented at the conferences, with both staff, and people we support being commended for all their incredible work.

Throughout the day, conversations and group discussions took place with the aim to provide invaluable insights to managers and staff so we can better understand what we do well, what we can do differently, and what changes can be implemented to enable us to be even more person centred. The responses from these discussions are invaluable and will ultimately help shape future support and enable us to further our understanding of providing high quality person-centred support.
