Raising Funds for New Community Hub
Thursday 3 June, 2021It’s a hive of activity in Dunfermline as staff and people we support are forging big plans for a new community Hub. Service Manager George McGarry and his team have found a great location in the town centre. It’s close to lots of amenities and ideal for those travelling by car, public transport or on foot.
The Hub aims to be self-sufficient and provide a range of choices for people supported by Real Life Options. In the coming months, the premises will have facilities where people can meet and connect, learn and develop new life skills and have a dedicated sensory room and separate micro cinema.
Links are forming with a local adult education centre to support individuals back into work by providing volunteering opportunities in connection with the Hub.
To achieve the ambitious target of £17,500 to refurbish and fit out the Hub, the people we support and staff have held raffles, sponsored walks and gratefully accepted donations from local businesses and community friends. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, over £3,000 has already been raised.
“We want the Dunfermline Hub to be as accessible as possible to a wide group of people. This way, we enable the people we support to be where they really belong – in the heart of our community.” George McGarry, Service Manager.
