Sheffield Day Centres First Fundraising Event
Monday 23 October, 2023Wednesday 18th October was an exciting day as staff, and people we support at our Sheffield Day Centre hosted their first fundraising event and coffee morning in the services new building, raising an impressive £532.
In the run up to the event, people we support had been hard at work with their support team to make products ready to be sold. The impressive range of handmade products included bath bombs, scented candles, resin keyrings and ornaments, Christmas and Halloween crafts, plus more! People we support enjoyed running their own stalls, collecting money from customers, and telling people all about the products at hand. Kaylie Myers, Team Coordinator at the Sheffield Day Centre says, “We wanted people we support to feel like they’d accomplished something, everything they’re selling they made themselves. They’ve all had fun making things. We made a variety of different crafts to make it more inclusive so everyone could get involved no matter their ability.”
The event had a fantastic turn out, with local councillors, and families of people we support attending. Amanda Maquade, Service Manger at the Sheffield Day Centre says, “The councillors were very happy with the building and impressed with how much we’d done in such a short space of time.”
Money raised from the event will go towards a new cooker, which will enable staff to continue to provide home cooked meals for people we support at the Day Centre, and equipment upgrades to further benefit the people we support. Kaylie says, “we like to make sure people we support get a home cooked meal and the current oven isn’t fit for purpose.”
A huge well done to the people we support, and staff who made the day such a success.
