Social Care TV’s Care Worker of the Month Award

A huge congratulations to Oye, our staff member in Portlethen for winning Social Care Tv’s Care Worker of the Month Award in November.

Nominated by Fiona, who we support in Portlethen, Oye was praised for the support she provides. As a member of Social Care TV, Fiona had the opportunity to nominate someone for carer of the month, saying she wanted “to do something for someone else to help them feel appreciated and good about themselves.”

Fiona praised Oye for a host of positive things saying she “lets me have plenty of choice and control over what we do in our day.” At Real Life Options, we believe people should feel empowered to have choice and control in their lives and focus on providing personalised support that is right for each individual. Our individualised approach results in more choice, greater control and improved independence. Oye was also praised for her willingness to provide extra support hours and always taking Fiona’s interests in to account.

Fiona was delighted to present Oye with her award which included a £100 Marks and Spencer’s voucher, along with a certificate. Oye says, “It was such a surprise and shock and it was a thoughtful and kind thing for Fiona to do for me. I was really surprised as she managed to keep it a secret from me, so I did not know until she told me. Fantastic to be awarded this by Fiona.”

Michelle, Service Manager at Portlethen says “Very well deserved as Oye’s commitment in her role is excellent and she always gives 100% when working with the people she supports and within the service and team. The nomination from Fiona shows this and it was such a lovely idea from her to nominate Oye and even better when she won.”
