Walking to Raise Funds for our Newcastle Community Hub

Walking to Raise Funds for our Newcastle Community Hub

Walking to Raise Funds for our Newcastle Community Hub

Wednesday 7 August, 2024

It was a busy weekend for people we support, and staff in Newcastle as the team got their walking boots on and came together to raise money for our Newcastle Community Hub, raising £1731 and counting!

The team took to Town Moor, a 1000 acre park in Newcastle and walked an impressive 5 kilometres. Despite the rain, people we support and staff powered through and headed back to St Andrew’s Church Hall for some well-deserved lunch and refreshments.

Attended by people we support in Newcastle, the community hub provides a safe space for people to socialise, meet up with friends, and partake in various activities including baking, music, and arts and crafts. Katie Murphy, Registered Locality Manager in Newcastle explains, “people we support were really keen to do the walk, they’d like to raise money for their community hub. The funds raised from the walk will go towards another 12 month hall hire so that the community hub sessions can continue.”

You can read about what people we support have to say about our Newcastle Community Hub below:

Michael explains he wishes the hub was on more, saying “it’s a good place to meet up with other people.” He enjoys the activities, chatting with people and having snacks.

Maureen says, “I like meeting up with friends, I like signing on the Karaoke and doing the crafts.”

Helen says, “I really like doing arts and crafts and baking. I would like to do more baking. It’s nice to see other people there.”

A big thank you to ITEL, our procurement partners for donating bottles of water to keep people hydrated during the walk.

A special shout out to Future Heat LTD for kindly donating £200 towards the cause.
